It’s been another consistent week in real estate across all of the states in Australia with way more activity than we would normally be accustomed to, in the first half of January. There are lots of agents across the board really glad they carried on through the December, Christmas and New Year period because it’s set them up really nicely to do lots of transactions in their respective areas.
It’s an interesting one because every single area of real estate – different types of property, different types of geographies - are on the whole, all doing rather well. That is, outside of the massive apartment market which is seriously stumbling right now, especially in Victoria and Sydney! We’re seeing a lot of action in other areas of the game.
The really fascinating point is that buyer debt is well and truly there to show up for a really strong market place. When you couple that with low interest rates, it’s all looking rather rosy so I wanted to ask one of the most knowledgeable minds in real estate what his thoughts were, moving forward into 2021. Not only do we get to understand what his lessons were from 2020, we’re also going to look at how this increased buyer debt is going to affect the market when things like JobKeeper and JobSeeker end in a few months time.
Peter Kakos is part of The Agency, down in Victoria. He is the leader, he is the General Manager and he is one of the most respected names in the game. Not only is he widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable sales people around, he’s one of the best auctioneers and he’s also one of the best leaders in the space.
Make sure you tune into this entire episode! It is a little bit longer but not only do we cover what went on, we also look at how we’re going to be affected moving forward because let’s face it, none of us predicted the market to be where it is right now. We’re going to get Peter’s opinion on it; none of us have got a crystal ball but he’s got the experience to have a bit more of a good idea as to what may happen.

Not only our teams within real estate but also our communities, which is what leadership is going to be all about in 2021 and irrespective of whether you’re in real estate as a professional or if you’re just trying to get ahead as a human being, that part is well worth tuning into as well.
